ABSTRACT

The abdominal injuries are becoming more frequent with advancing mechanization, increase in fast moving heavy duty vehicles and increasing violence in the society. Multiple organ systems are usually involved. The plight of the seriously injured patient depends upon immediate and specific treatment offered. In view of the advanced diagnostic facilities, a selective laparotomy is advocated for the penetrating abdominal injuries, thus avoiding so many unnecessary laparotomies which had been done in the past
